Join us for the 4th installment of the ever popular overnight event, Geek 'Til Dawn! Sponsored by DeFRAG, JMAC, and CSS, Geek 'Til Dawn keeps the CDM building open all night, and fills it with gaming, anime, puzzle challenges, and other forms of entertainment.

We will be raffling off an PS3 Slim Bundle, selling exclusive Geek 'Til Dawn T-Shirts, and holding a silent auction/sale of some of the gaming labs older games and consoles to benefit charity.

Keep in mind, while students are able to leave whenever, the CDM Building closes at 11:00 PM. After 11:00 PM, if you leave, you will not be allowed back into the building. This event is open to all students.

Guests must be accompanied by a DePaul Student.

What: Geek 'Til Dawn 4

When: October 23rd-24th, 8:00 PM – 9:00 AM

Where: DePaul CDM

Any questions, comments, concerns can't be sent to: geektildawn@defrag.depaul.edu

Hey DeFRAG,

Here's some do's and don'ts for this Friday's Geek 'Til Dawn. These are there so everyone (including you!) can have fun. Try to follow them and I'm sure everyone will have a good time.

If you have any other questions, be sure to send them to geektildawn@defrag.depaul.edu

Bring:

- Food!
DeFRAG will be supplying pizza, and a small breakfast, but it's a long night. Extra food to snack on (chips, soda, candy, etc) is highly advised. Please remember, that all rules regarding food and drink in the labs are still in effect.

– Money!

Alongside the PS3 Slim Bundle Raffle, DeFRAG will be selling/auctioning off old games and systems for charity. Also available for purchase will be exclusive Geek 'Til Dawn t-shirts. Raffle tickets are 1 for $2, or 3 for $5. T-shirt prices are $10 a piece, or $17 if you buy both.

– Handheld/Board Games!

This event is looking bigger then ever, and there is only so many consoles for so many people. Don't forget to bring your PSPs, DS/i's, board games, or other small, portable gaming devices.

- Sleeping Supplies
While the point of this event is to "Geek 'Til Dawn", in the event you wish to lay down for a little bit, DeFRAG will not be supplying any pillows, blankets, etc. Lounge areas will be put aside for quiet areas.

- Stuff
A generic term for anything and everything else you may need for an overnight event. This includes things like chargers, contact solutions, PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION, or anything else you cannot go 13 hours without. Again, the building closes at 11:00 PM. If you leave after this time, for whatever reason, you will NOT be allowed back in.

- Positive Attitude
This includes COMMON SENSE. This a big event, and takes a lot of willing DePaul Faculty, Staff, and Students to coordinate this event. We want to make it as fun as possible, and we want to continue hosting Geek 'Til Dawn in the years to come. For this, we need YOU! (yes, you!) to be fun, active, reasonably behaved participants. Make it possible for this event to continue!

Do NOT Bring!

- Illegal Items
DeFRAG will have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy towards anything that is considered against DeFRAG and DePaul policies. No drugs, alcohol, etc. We're going to trust your common sense here. If anyone's caught with these items, they will be immediately escorted out of the event.

-Non-DePaul Minors
Because of Chicago curfew, we ask that you do not bring any GUESTS under the age of 18. If you are a DePaul Student (with a valid DePaul ID), and under the age of 18, we ask that if you attend, you either leave before 11:00 PM, or stay until 6:00 AM to avoid breaking curfew.

- Bad Attitude
This includes BAD SENSE. Again, this event takes a lot of willing DePaul Faculty, Staff, and Students to coordinate. A single student breaking DePaul/DeFRAG polices could mean the end of Geek 'Til Dawn. So please, for the sake of your future Geek 'Til Dawns, have fun, and behave yourself!

DeFRAG and DePaul University are not responsible for items lost, stolen, or damaged during this event. If an event participant is found in violation of any of the aforementioned policies, or any DeFRAG/DePaul Policy, we reserve the right to remove them from the event.

Thanks! Hope to see you all there!

I'm so ridiculous excited for this one. It's like, the first Geek Til Dawn that once the event starts, my responsibility theoreticaly ends.

Of course, I know that I'm probably going to do something per my nature, but still, the fact that I can hang-out and play games all night?

Will dev lab be open for gaming on the 360s in there (I don't think anyone who doesn't want to be out of place would be going to Geek Till Dawn to do work)?

Can people bring their own 360s and use TVs/monitors in the building?

The Dev Lab will be open, as will the Animation Lab after 9:00 PM [it's reserved for another event until then].

Haha, I think you'd be surprised how many people may use this oppurtunity to stay late to work on projects. I know the IGF team has their deadline coming up real fast, so they might want to use it as well. I would not rely on having the Dev Lab as a second console lab. I know I have stuff I should be working on.

If you want to bring your own console and TV, that's your perogative. DeFRAG/DePaul won't be responsible for items lost, stolen, or broken though. You also won't be able to hook up your equipment in the lab, or lab equipment to yours [e.g. you can't bring in your 360 and hook it up to one of the lab's TVs, only harddrives can be swapped out]. Only Moderators are allowed to change a equipment wiring. This is just standard lab procedure.

I would recommend bringing handhelds instead. :P

As a representative of the IGF team, I know at least a few people will be working on and off on stuff (myself including).

I'd say if no one is using the computers, feel free to use the 360s for gaming.  But it's not the best way to do it.  If you can get a tv in the labs, play there.  If you are playing in the dev lab, and someone wants to do some work, they get the computer.
